Fundacion Manoa is an archaeological research organization dedicated to supporting research, preserve archaeological resources and protect heritage sites in the New World, with a strong focus on education, interdisciplinary and international scientific collaboration.
Historical Archaeology is the study of the material remains of past societies that also left behind documentary and oral histories. This subfield of archaeology studies the emergence, transformation, and nature of the Modern World.
Prehistoric archaeology deals with civilizations that did not develop writing. Artifacts from these societies may provide the only clues we have about their lives. Archaeologists studying the CLovis people, for instance, have only arrowheads -called projectile points- and stone tools as artifacts.
As with all other branches of archaeology, Underwater Archaeology evolved from its roots in pre-history and in the classical era to include Underwater sites from the historical and industrial eras.
Remote sensing has been able to assist archaeological research in several ways during the past years, including detection of subsurface ramins, monitoring archaeological sites and monuments, and assisting arhaeolandscapes studies.
Landscape archaeology is a sub-discipline of Archaeology which has been defined in a number of ways over the past couple of decades. It is both an archaeological technique and a theoretical construct—a way for archaeologists to look at the past as the integration of past societies and their landscape
The Foundation Manoa is dedicated to pioneering and advancing archaeological research in the Americas, serving as a beacon for enhancing public appreciation in the vast domains of humanities, arts, and sciences. Through a multi-pronged approach, including publications, enlightening lectures, comprehensive seminars and large-scale conferences, we strive to create a bridge between past wonders and present curiosity. Our research sphere is vast and varied, encompassing both Prehistoric and Historic archaeology. We delve deep into the exploration of the first Amerindian civilizations, meticulously studying their settlements, the intricate tapestry of material culture they left behind, and the intricate patterns of their migrations across the continent.
Our focus also extends to Historic archaeology, shedding light on the momentous era when the first European explorers set foot on the Americas. Their pursuits, interactions, and the lasting legacies they left behind provide invaluable insights into a transformative period of history. Through our exhaustive studies, we aim to bridge the past with the present, illuminating historical narratives that have shaped the New World. Our mission is not just to unearth history but to make it accessible and comprehensible to the wider public, ensuring that the lessons and stories of the past continue to inspire and inform future generations.
The generosity of individuals, corporations, and foundations makes our research work possible.

For over several decades, Fundación Manoa has delved into the mysteries of the Lost World located within the Guianas Shield. The Foundation's recent investigations, backed by satellite remote sensing surveys, have been groundbreaking. Not only have they enabled the reconstruction of ancient landscapes, but they've also unearthed previously undiscovered archaeological sites. Many of these sites containing rock art. Preliminary results from these investigations have not only introduced a novel archaeological entity for the region, "The Canaima Complex," but they also offer fresh hypotheses and prompt intriguing questions about the earliest Amerindian inhabitants in these tepui regions were Angel falls are.
